College Courses and Curriculums

From Sunnydale High to Hogwarts, pop culture is filled with learning institutions of all shapes and sizes, and real world schools are bridging the gap between the fictional and factual as a result. Harvard University debuted “The Real Game of Thrones” in 2017, for instance, while San Diego State University launched a Comics@SDSU initiative in 2019. Everything from Star Trek to Star Wars to The Lord of the Rings can likewise be found on college campuses, further demonstrating the power of pop culture as a learning tool.

Harry Potter and Theology

Graduate student Danielle Elizabeth Tumminio created a semester-long seminar at Yale University in 2008 that explored Christianity through the lens of the Harry Potter book series.
